CLAPPING MONKS

On October 8, 2004, a person going by the name of THE SPACE BOSS, posted the following message in the rec.games.video.classic usenet newsgroup:

As we all know, there have been many versions of the (original) game "Mortal Kombat". Some of them were good, but NONE of them were "arcade perfect".

I just got the "platinum package" of MORTAL KOMBAT DECEPTION for Playstation 2, and it contains the original FULL, ARCADE PERFECT version of the original "Mortal Kombat" in it's entirety.

I was always very happy with other home version(s) of the game, but boy oh boy what a difference this one makes. It's just like having the real arcade game in your home.

One GLARING OMISSION that every single home version of MK suffered from was that in the "courtyard" screen, after the fight was over the "monks" wouldn't clap. This was perhaps the most noticeable thing that initially attracted people to the arcade game. EVEN THE "Sega CD" version didn't have this. Nor any other. But it's here now in all it's glory. Recommended.

Yes, THE SPACE BOSS truly and firmly believes that it is the clapping monks that caused people to play the arcade game, not the realistic digitized graphics, the blood, the violent Fatalities, or the controversy.

Our story doesn't end there, however, because just four days later, Robert Morgan (another r.g.v.classic regular) posted a rather humorous satire article in response...
